So I have that horrible, yucky, lonely feeling that you get when you spend a weekend filled with some of the people you love the most in the whole world and then they have to go home.
On Friday, my cousin Danie and her husband Matt and kids came to visit. We had the most fun. We watched the kids tear into Christmas gifts on Friday night and opened some ourselves. All of which were awesome and thoughtful. We went to Lava Hot Springs on Saturday and soaked in the hot tubs and enjoyed the fabulous view of the mountains. Went out to lunch at Johnnys in the quaint, christmassy setting of the town of Lava and ate fantastic food together. Had a really huge family dinner on Saturday night complete with creme brullee. Sunday, we went to church together and then to lunch/brunch afterwards and then it was time to say goodbye, which I hated. We had such a great time watching our kids play together and remembering all the fun we had together as kids. We laughed, we cried, it was just this wonderful, magical time and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I then hosted a birthday party for my dear friend Paula, who is really like an Aunt to me. It was a big one for her and I was so honored that her family wanted to have it at my home. As I've written before I love to play hostess. I sat there thinking that when I reach Paula's age I hope I am surrounded by loving friends and family like she is. It was great food and great fellowship with great friends and family and put off the lonliness I normally would have felt from Danie and fam going home.
No sooner than the birthday party had broken up and I got all order restored, then Israel came. I have also written before how much I throughly enjoy visits from Izzy. This was no exception. He stayed with us for two nights and just left today. We visited, watched some great movies together, and LAUGHED, as always when Izzy is around. Plus, he blessed us with a very generous, very awesome, and very thoughful Christmas gift. And, I thank him from the bottom of my heart. Absolutely fantastic times!
Alas, now it is over. And, my house just feels so empty. It doesn't help that Brian is working tonight..late. I just have to remind myself that as it always is in life all good things must come to an end at some point. I can be thankful I have a loving husband and son. And, just keep looking forward to the day when, once again, I will have a house full of people and the comforting sounds of a beautiful life filled with all things wonderful.
