Ever had one of those days where everything you touch just seems to go wrong somehow? I am currently experiencing one of those days today. I have made a commitment to try to keep things in perspective so I'm working really hard on not getting frustrated. I woke up this morning at 4:45 am to get ready to go on my walk with my Mom and Dad. (BTW: They are quite possibly the best parents ever for their commitment to me and my health, they deserve major kudos and lots of other nice things) The walk was great except for one little thing; the wind was blowing so hard it took your breath away. I am no featherweight and it felt like it was trying its darndest to knock me down. It made everything seem very eerie, it howled through the trees and bang things around. Of course, it doesn't help that it was pitch black at that hour in the morning. Anyway, I digress.... In hindsight, maybe I should have taken the weather as a clue the kind of day I was going to have.
Next.. well my goal for today was going to be to get the last bit of sewing done for the costumes for the parade after Thanksgiving. I sat down at my machine and started to sew, only to be greeted with a growling noise coming from my machine. Oh yes, it decided that instead of sewing nicely, like it normally does, it would growl, curse, and chew up the fabric. (Yes a sewing machine is capable of cursing; and no it is not a very pleasant sound) Anyhow after further examination I found that it wanted to spew forth the bobbin case instead of leaving where it should be. So, it's off to the sewing doctor tomorrow.
Soon after my little meltdown with the machine, the door bell rings. It was one of my dear neighbors delivering my mail. This is not a normal occurance so I thought, what is this about. Well, before I could ask the question he explained. He was up at the bank of mailboxes getting his mail when he saw a package on the ground. Apparently the terrible wind blew said package off it's perch next to my mailbox and onto the ground. He picked it up and the rest of my mail and was delivering it to me so it wouldn't be lost. Thank you so much say I, I'm really excited because the package is a Christmas gift for my brother and his wife. I say goodbye and rush to the kitchen to open the package. (I ordered it off of E-Bay). In shock and utter disappointment I stare at two objects that are not what I ordered, not what I expected, and not what I want. So, off to the computer I head to try to get this new problem sorted out. I'm still waiting to hear back from the seller.
So here it is 3:00 in the afternoon. I haven't accomplished anything I set out to do today. I have spent hours trying to fix my sewing machine. I've spent time trying to get a hold of someone who sold me two items that I really wanted and then sent two items that I don't want. Ugh! I really, really, really, hope things go a little better this afternoon. I have one more "to-do" I could possibly get crossed off the list today. If that does not go well either, I might just throw up my hands for today, settle in a cozy chair with a comfy quilt, and some delicious hot chocolate and read a good book.
