A little hard work
I have been so anxious, uptight, and generally on edge lately. I haven't been sleeping well and in general a bit on the touchy/moody side. I didn't know until today what the cure for all that is. I struggle with these moods...not alot...but often enough. I have always just given it time and eventually (I think I get so tired from not sleeping my body has no other choice) I relax and start sleeping again. My schedule lately has demanded me to be running like crazy. I won't go into all the gory details but let's just say it has been from sun up to way past sundown. Today was slightly different. I had a million errands to run this morning. After that I came home did the usual, laundry, dishes, cooking, organizing, ect. And then... I looked out my back door; wow, what a mess. I guess in all my business latley I hadn't notice a tremendous lot of weeds that had sprung up from nowhere. We live in the country, have acres, literally, of land. Weeds are no stranger to us, however I try to keep around the house and garden area hacked down. Well, I thought to myself, okay that will drive me crazy if I ignore it. I took my 3 bags of trash that needed to be burnt(earlier this week I spent a good deal of time going through old papers) and headed out to the fire pit (another bonus of living in the country) Jadon and I pulled weeds like mad people. I started a roaring fire in the pit. And, there we were throwing in handfuls of papers and tumbleweeds. We made a game of it until Jadon got tired of all that and began to play with his friend Karlee who had come over when she saw us outside. I continued to pull, prod, hoe, rake and anything else along those lines to get those nasty rascal weeds out from around my house, garden, and Jadon's dirt hill. I listened to the kids play and make mudpies. The air was crisp. It smelled divine, sagebrush, fall leaves, wood smoke, and just plain old fresh. A rooster pheasant bellowed, an early owl hooted. It was so peaceful. It was some of the most difficult work I've done in a while, tedious is a good word. But, it felt so good to do it. To set something in order in my life. To clean and organize and get to enjoy such peaceful, serene surroundings all the while. Finally, a bit after dark, I was done. Jadon and I were cold and he was a muddy mess, covered from head to toe. Just the way a boy who lives in the country should be. We headed inside to get my swamp creature in the shower. Once inside I realized how good I felt. In the last few days I have accomplished more than some people do in the whole week. I realized all this work, especially the manuel labor today is really good for the soul. What is there to be anxious about? Everything will come together in time. No worries. I am happy to say I look forward to a good nights rest. No lying awake, staring at the ceiling for me tonight. It's nice to feel absolutely spent at the end of the day, knowing you've accomplished as much as you could in a day. Tomorrow is another glorious chance to accomplish more, some of it meaningful, some of it necessary, some of it fun. I said yesterday I appreciated the Lord's perspective and today I think I have an even better view of just what a blessing His perspective is.
